The top of the Citadel once covered an area of over 6 hectares.
The blue line marker follows the road to the gas station, from where it climbs to the right towards the “canteen no. 5”, in ruins today. At the edge of the forest, the path begins, which climbs along the edge of the stream of the Citadel among the rocks. After a steep climb of approx. 50 minutes we come to a fork, where we follow the marked path on the left (recently organized by the Harghita Alpine Eco Club Association). After another 15 minutes we reach the edge of the plateau of the Citadel Peak, at the old road that climbs up to it. Cetate. After getting back in the saddle, continue on the trail marked with a blue line. After 150 m, on the left, we meet the path going up from the Tisei stream. Further on we climb through the forest to the south, in the saddle between the Ciomatului peaks. After 8-10 minutes the trail crosses the stream of the Citadel and slopes southeast. The climb gets steeper and steeper, the most difficult section being between Vf. Surduc and Ciumatul Mare. The trail arrives in the saddle glen between the peaks, where it meets the trail marked with a red cross that climbs from Baile Tușnad. From here the trail descends to the Mohoș clearing and crater where the Tinovul Mohoș is located, then from the barrier, where the hut and camping site are located, we descend to the crater where the Tinovul Mohoș is located.
